Driving Lamp Installation

Watch out when installing the Driving Lamp accessory! Some of them are wired wrong from the original vendor, and some Lamps have all wires the same color. Here's what to check and what to do:

1) Check the wiring in the lamps before you install them. Not doing this step can cause blown fuses or burned wire harnesses. Check between each lead and the metal frame of the light bar; one lead should be grounded to the bar and this lead should match the pin on the bike, which is grounded to the chassis (normally a black wire - see #3). The blue wire with the red stripe from the bike is hot.

2) Check for continuity. Check between the two leads at the light bar connector. If you have 0 Ohms, it is wired incorrectly.

3) What if you don't have a black wire in the driving lamps? Some lamp kits shipped with two red wires. One wire has a plastic insulator on the end and the other wire has NO terminal AND is tied in a loop; the looped wire is the ground wire. It is suggested by Superxtim to mark this wire with black electrical tape or permanent ink for future reference.

4) View/Download the official E-H instructions (pdf - 600k). Driving Lamp Kit #6099-0026.

5) Download this helpful wiring diagram (jpg - 111k). Driving Lamp Wiring Diagram
