Rear Fender Spacer Serial Range: 001-600 Symptom: Rear fender to brace clearance may be too great, resulting in tension on fender assembly. The rear fender clearance is designed for rear rack installation, therefore Super X motorcycles without a rack will require the fender shim between the fender and fender brace. Correction: Order 2-P/N 1499-0013D fender shims. Install new fender shim between rear and fender brace. While supporting the rear fender, remove the two rear fender screws and loosen the front two screws. Working from the rear, angle the fender shim downward (at rear) and slide the fender shim into place from below and place above the front fender screws. The fender shim angle is required to allow shim installation without reflector removal. Re-attach screws and torque to 50 ft/lbs. No thread locker will be required for these fender screws. NOTE: If the motorcycle is equipped with a genuine Excelsior-Henderson motorcycle Luggage Rack, the fender shim will not be required. |
